Itemized Deduction: What Does It Mean?
Individual tax-deductible expenses you can list instead of taking the standard deduction. Common itemized deductions include mortgage interest, state and local taxes (up to $40,000 under current law), and charitable contributions. You'll only itemize if these expenses add up to more than your standard deduction.
